Everything About London

London - Westminister Abbey & Big Ben
London is capital and biggest city of England and United Kingdom. It was established by Romans and it has been one of few centers of the world since then. There are more than 8 millions of people living in London and it is said that over 300 different languages are spoken.

Alright, enough with Wikipedia! Those were just to prepare you for one of the most important cities of the world, London. Well, you should be ready because there are more than 14 millions of tourists visiting London each year. There must be a reason, you know. Let's say you want to make that number 14 millions plus one, and want to see the London yourself. First question is, when should you go to London? Which time of year is it the best?

If you want the weather to be nice and join lots of festivals, you should visit London in summer. But beware, it will be crowded and everything will be more expensive. Your second best option is from middle of February to end of May. Otherwise, it will be rainy and foggy every day. Yes, almost every single day. But still, it is very beautiful. Rain doesn't do any harm to normal life, because Brits are used to it.

What else you should do before going to London, is of course to change your local currency to British pound. Don't forget to ask for some change also because noone will like you when you give them £ 50 for something much lesser.

Now I'll finish this post here and while I progress more about suggestions for London trip, I'll edit and add new links below.

Introducing - British Street Food App

Hello everyone! Today, I want to talk about British Street Food App. It's a bit niche, it mostly consists street food vendors over UK. But there are more cities from another countries joining it, hopefully it may be the App to Eat Them All!

British Street Food App is my suggestion to everyone who will visit UK, especially London. So if you ever wonder "what to do before going to London?", or asking yourself "what kind of food can I taste in London?", fear no more. Because British Street Food App can help you. I was very lucky to find out it by a very good suggestion before my tour to Camden Town (that you can see here). British Street Food App simply tells you the location of a vendor, what kind of food they offer, their prices, ratings and working hours. If you enjoy trying out different kind of foods when you go abroad, this is for you! Before visiting UK, this app is a must. It became so popular in United Kingdom that now you can even vote for your favourite food vendor at the British Street Food Awards.

This application can also be used by street food traders, so it is a must also for those who dream to work in England as a street food vendor! With British Street Food App, your amazing food will be rated and after sometime people will start to notice it, they will want to try your food. You may even win the Street Food Awards! (If you ever to it after reading this post, send me a sample from your food please! :)

British Street Food App has both iOS and Android versions, for more information about the application you can check their website here

Shoreditch and Urban Food Festival

About Shoreditch

Shoreditch is a really nice town. It's buildings and streets has a unique feeling. It feels really "indie".

When you get off the train, lots of little shops side by side welcomes you. There are interesting tshirts and they are not overpriced! You should check some of them if you have time. Also try your luck and check some streets randomly. Most probably you'll like what you find! If you visit Shoreditch on Saturday and between 5pm-12am, you should also visit Urban Food Fest!

Urban Food Fest

More street food and more unique tastes! Urban Food Fest will make your Shoreditch trip even more fun and delicious.

You can easily find the place, just on the main street. But you might have hard time to find a place to sit down! Remember, sidewalk just near the festival area is your good friend.

There are lots of different foods inside.

Such as,
  • Korean Ramen Burgers
  • Wood Fired Pizza
  • Peruvian Meat Skewers
  • Spanish Food such as prawns, duck, gazpacho
  • Very good looking vintage sweets
  • Craft beer! (DO try spiced cider)
  • Japanese sushi & wrap

Borough Market

You can reach Borough Market via Tube, simply get off at the London Bridge station and keep walking to the Borough Street exit.

As soon as you go inside you will have that feel, the one which has a little voice in your brain telling you "THIS IS THE PLACE! PERFECT ONE!!".. At least I hear that sometimes.

Food Lover's Paradise - Borough Market!

This place is really interesting. If you love to try different food, this is the perfect place. You can find a French shop selling delicious croissants, and next to it an Indian dude selling lots of different teas for different occasions, and next to them a hunters' shop selling tinned wild pidgeon.

One of best things about Borough Market is that sellers want you to try their food! Even if you are very shy, you just have to walk to their shops. They will be happy to give you a sample from their products!

Let me show you some photos about what you can see in Borough Market and my favourate foods from my trip.

Cheese over your height!

Pretzels!

Roast Hog in old style!

Fresh fruit and vegetables!

Delicious baguettes!

German Hot Dogs... obviously! You can't think a street food market without Hot Dogs!

Goat's and cow's milk cheese aged in Barolo wine!

Exotic meat market. Seriosly, they sell ostrich burgers, camel burgers, kangaroo sausages, elk burgers. They also have a large variety of meat in their list. Such as, crocodile, bison, buffalo, reindeer, wagyu, phyton, frog legs, llama.

Food in Camden Town

Camden Market

Camden Market is a place where you can find all kind of interesting things. It's combined from lots of little shops. There are common ones like gift-shops that you can find all around in London, or tshirt shops. But there are also special coffee shops, hookah cafes and cool shops that sell interesting stuff!

Such as,
Scary masks
Cool clothes
Also it is very old town, there are informative photos and statues around that tell you Camden's history.

Camden Stables
Even in Camden Town there are great differences between prices. You should try to make a bargain with every seller, most of them will cut the prices.

But of course more importantly... also lots of interesting FOOD!

There is also a big fast-food market and if you love street food, you will for sure love it! It's very hard to choose though, Fajita or Canadian Hot Dog?!, while both of them are waiting for you. Whatever you choose, grab it and walk to water canal and enjoy your food with a nice view.

Let me give you show you some food you can find in Camden.

First! About Blog & Me

Hello World!

I'm Mert, business student from Turkey who gets thrilled with every new development in digital world! I like travelling and taking photos (..obviously!). After getting compliment for some of my photos (actually for a small percentage of them, most of them had beginner mistakes. BUT! I feel I'm getting better!) I decided to make a blog and share my trips and all the foods I tasted.

As this blog grows, we'll see together if I can manage to improve my skills. Or if they'll go (even) worse!

For now my posts will be mostly about London and Istanbul. Well London is the city I loved a lot! So I took lots of pictures, tried to do all the suggestions I found online, and Istanbul is the city I live.
